ann patton, 8/11/2013 - 2:18pm "Thank you, Ray, for this thoughtful column and for supporting the idea of renaming the street after the late Rev. Ben Hill, surely one of the best leaders in Tulsa history -- who happened to be -- well, i started to say black, but i remember asking Ben in about 1969 what he wanted to be called. He said he didn't have any problem with being called Negro or colored or African American, or black for that matter -- but in fact, Ben said, "I am just a soft lavendar tan." Tulsa would do proud to name the street after Ben Hill or perhaps posting a second street sign putting Ben Hill Boulevard on top of Tate Brady, forever."
