paramedic, 10/ 1/2007 - 12:34pm "As a paramedic people always want to say it takes a long time to get an ems unit to the scene. They need to ride with these units in the area and see what types of calls they go on. We can get to the serious calls because we are tired up on the calls that the people don't need an ambulance to go to the E.R. People think that if they go by ambulance they will be seen sooner. The commissioners need to work with EMS company and Fire Rescue units on protocols to allow the crews to evaluate the patients and advised them that they can go by car. Most of time there are plenty of cars in the drive way. I also think it putting too much pressure on crews to get to a location in 8 min or less because most city traffic is heavy a lot of times. Lets spend time on educated the public on what 911 is for."
