T-45 Cowboy, 12/ 5/2007 - 2:12pm "I'm apalled that Mr. Ervin chose to play the 1921 Race Riot card and use that as a basis for all the ills of North Tulsa. I too am a proud graduate of McLain HS (60s generation)and I've worked my way out of the morass that is north Tulsa. Tell me, if I could work my way through school, obtain a Masters degree, bank a 6 figure salary and be in a position of esteem and respect, why can't EVERYONE in north Tulsa do the same. I don't buy it. Not for one minute. He and other do-gooders should spend more time trying to SOLVE the root problems than hiding behind something that happened 86 years ago. The problems are systemic and self perpetuating. Children are not being taught the lessons we learned about self respect, social obligations, personal responsibilities and doing right by the world. Good people don't shoplift or steal from their neighbors. Good people have respect for others. Why would anyone want to try to operate a business in an environment such as the peoples of north Tulsa have self-created and continue to perpetuate? Shameful journalism, if you could go so far as to call it that."
