On the surface it sounds like a dispute over siting a grocery store, but the North Tulsa Councilers must be talking about a much larger structural problem in Tulsa--the legacy of inequality of wealth & power. When the city does not prioritize addressing the needs of North Tulsas, it shows a that the city elite continue to be content with a legacy of inequality based on race and class. Re-hiring a police chief that fails to address racist tensions in the police and city and failing to make sure basic needs like access to healthy affordable food are provided to North Tulsas indicate that the city elite do not care. Does Urban Tulsa care? As a white person, I have noticed that Urban Tulsa's seems to focus on white, south Tulsa. Why?"
