Heidi Tobin, 4/ 4/2009 - 9:19am "there is no easy solution to this problem, i see the point of both sides. This mission plays a vital role in how our city can provide shelter and oppertunity for better life to the homeless and addicted. i understand the nieghborhoods need for safety but i also see that with out expansion of the mission, there will be a greater risk of breakins and people under bridges and overpasses.
if there are bigger facilities, then there is more room and then less oppertunity or even motive for breaks ins. We need to provide what is needed for those with out shelter. you may not agree but we have a responsibility to do what we can with what we have to help the less fortunate. the basis of this mission is the love of God for everyone and in sharing that love we do what we can to make provision for those that are unable to provide for themselves and their families. I want my neighborhood safe, i wnat to know that my home is safe as well. don't stereo type and assume that just because there is a homeless shelter near you that they are the only threat to your safety. thats just rediculouos. there are lots of threats to our neighnorhoods and communitys. if we are able then lets meet the need and trust that as we do what God has called us too, He will provide the protection we need. I pray that this will be worked out for everyones benefit and good."
