What Comes Naturally
Music flows on new release
Jay Falkner's debut solo album may have seen an official release in April, but it's far from a debut for an artist that's one part songwriter and one part smoking hot guitarist. As a founding member of Marshall City and the leader of South 40, Falkner has plenty of experience in the studio and on the stage.

Connecting the Dots
Singer's new release comes with a little help from his friends
Although Jason Ferguson has been playing around Tulsa for roughly six years now, he has finally emerged over the past two, becoming a regular fixture on the local pop/rock scene, often opening for local or national acts as well as appearing regularly at Hunt Club and a handful of other locations. Instead of pushing the rock envelope, Ferguson has found his niche and comfort zone within the window of mid-tempo pop songs, culminating in the release of his new disc, The Unicorn EPisode, with five of his best tracks.

Center of Attention
Festival poised to bring a new vision and direction
Anyone plugged into the social media outlets and has a Facebook account likely saw the announcements as word got out and spread over the internet about "Center of the Universe" earlier this spring. At once cryptic and enticing, the posts drew enough attention to quickly draw a couple thousand followers to the festival's Facebook page in anticipation of more information.

Rebel Keeps Yelling
Still sneering, still rocking
When scrolling back in your mind to the '80s, a plethora of images is bound to appear. Although everyone has their own distinct memories, one of those iconic images in nearly everyone's mind is the MTV logo.

Mix It Up
Blurring genre lines to shake things up
Last week, we gave you a rundown of this week's NewVo Showcase that Urban Tulsa is hosting at IDL Ballroom this Thursday night, June 13. It's a night full of music with a little bit of everything: from acoustic tunes by Robert Hoefling to the folk/punk of Johnny Badseed & the Rotten Apples to the indie rock of Dead Shakes and surf punk of The Fabulous St. Knicholas Cage to the bluegrass/world beat blend of Grayless and the straight up rock of RL Jones.

Hard Work and Surprises
Making a mark the old-school way
I'll admit, when I initially received JB & the Moonshine band's sophomore CD, Beer for Breakfast, I didn't hold out hope. After all, I'd seen and heard this all before, right?

Bonus Tracks
Although it may still be unseasonably warm, don't let the temperatures fool you: Christmas season is here and this week's concert calendar will start reminding you of it. Regardless of how busy you are with holiday parties and shopping, the local concert calendar is just as busy -- and may even be responsible for keeping the temperatures up.
